The Baha system is quite different from the cochlear implant system and the people who can benefit from the two systems typically have very different types of hearing loss. The Baha system is designed for people with conductive or mixed hearing loss and for people with single sided deafness — deaf in one ear. While conventional air conduction and bone conduction hearing aids may provide a satisfactory solution for many people with these types of loss, they are not always suitable. For the conditions listed below, direct bone conduction and the Baha system may offer the advance in hearing technology that is needed.

  • Conductive hearing loss

  • Mixed hearing loss

  • Single Sided Deafness (SSDTM)
