Accessories
Audiometric Equipment
A unique feature of the Baha system is that, unlike other implantable hearing devices, potential candidates can be pre-operatively evaluated with the sound processor using a Testband or Test Rod. The ideal situation is to test with both devices.
Test Rod
The test rod is used as a pre-operative device. It is particularly useful for potential candidates who are on the limits of the audiological criteria or if there is uncertainty as to which side to place the implant. The test rod can also be used to demonstrate the abutment, snap coupling and sound processor.

Testband*
The Testband gives potential patients the opportunity to experience the Baha sound processor while interacting in everyday listening environments. The Baha sound processor is easily attached to a plastic snap connector on the metal spring.
Baha® Softband* **
The Baha Softband is the solution for the very youngest Baha wearer who is too young for Baha surgery. The Softband is an elastic band with a plastic snap connector disk sewn into the band. The band has a Velcro fastening which enables it to be easily adjusted to fit the size of the child’s head.
The snap connector disk is pressed against the skin behind the ear or at another bony location of the skull, through the pressure from the band. The sound is then transmitted through the bone of the skull to the functioning inner ears.
Headband*
The Baha Headband is intended for patients who can benefit from a Baha sound processor but who are not yet suitable for Baha surgery. Whenever the sound processor cannot be attached to an implant the Headband can be used, for instance, when surgery is delayed. The Headband has been designed to fit comfortably around the wearer’s head and the sound processor is easily attached to the plastic snap connector on the metal spring.
Audio Adapter
The Audio adapter, with its isolation transformer, protects the wearer from power surges when connecting the sound processor to external equipment such as personal stereos, MP3, TV, Hi Fi systems, FM and IR systems. There is also a connection cord available for those wearing bilateral sound processors.
Telecoil Unit
The Telecoil unit is for use with a loop facility either within public buildings or from a personal loop system. The telecoil unit will pick up the sound in theatres, cinemas, lecture theatres etc. and from telephones provided they are fitted with a loop facility.
MicroLink FM Receiver
Phonak has developed a miniaturized FM-receiver for the headworn devices, enabling wearers to use their Baha device with the Phonak FM transmitters HandyMic, EasyLink. SmartLink, TelCom and Campus S. This is only available through Phonak http://www.phonak.com/
*The Headband, Testband and Softband work in the same way as a conventional bone conductor, with the signal being weakened as it passes through the skin (attenuation). The audiological indications are therefore not the same as for any of the Baha sound processors when attached to an osseointegrated implant. If they are used during the fixture healing process, they must not be placed on top of the abutment or implant as this might jeopardize osseointegration.
* * Caution: These products contain natural rubber latex that may cause allergic reactions.
